The Girls and Boys Head East for the Fourth.

Festive St. Michael’s homes.

Over the week of the Fourth of July, I had the pleasure of vacationing at the Eastern Shore on the Chesapeake Bay. It’s my first time renting a bay waterfront home and probably not my last. The Bay and Beach both have their upsides, but something about the quietness bay and your own private beach and dock makes it a much more inviting place to kick back and relax.

Hubby, Alpha and I went up early and took some quality time catching crabs, exploring the adjoining rivers and creeks by boat, and kicking back. Twin sis and her family of four followed suit for the last three days.

Boating, basking in the sun, watching sunsets on the edge of our private dock, eating lots of good food, catching up on some reading, picking my favorite beach rocks with Julie (who wanted all of the clear ones) and enjoying a “surprise-filled” 4th was our itinerary.

And it was perfect.

Definitely a trip never to be forgotten in this household.

Thank you Daily Candy for this tip on the travel blog Design Tripper. I love it! Blend Travel + Design and you’ve got a new fan! This blog is one of my new favorites. This team of bloggers searched out exceptionally well-designed vacation homes, cabins, inns, motels, hotels, even tents to rent, from California to Tuscany. The pictures are gorgeous and the details make you feel like you’re already on vacation. This weeks post is a eye-opener with a hotel called 40 Winks that is designed by London-based interior designer David Carter that features only two rooms for rent but an experience of true surreal charm.

A Good Crush!

I’m in the midst of planning particulars for my early Fall vacation to the sweet Napa Valley. It’s high season, and the right time for wineries to work around the clock to “crush” plucked full grapes into the famous California wines – which means busy busy busy –  so getting things in order ASAP is key. I’ve purchased airline tickets, reserved accommodations at two really cute inns, saved a table at three well-respected restaurants, purchased tickets to Domain Chandon’s Annual Pink Party, and about to soon secure an early morning hot air balloon ride above the beautiful terrain of Calistoga (I’d appreciate advice from any past ballooners!). Now its time to sit back, cross off the remaining days on my calendar and think about a few days drinking wine and putting my Nikon to very good use. I’ll make sure to return with a cool art peice for my walls and maybe some other goodies as well (I always pick up a holiday ornament and sterling silver charm when I travel!).

But Wait!

Yahoo featured an article in todays Travel section called Street Fairs, Tastings, Art in Napa Valley. Yeeaaah!! I’m psyched. If you’re headed there the first weekend of October, add these to your itinerary!
