Behold the Magazine Rack.

This lightly hammered silver plated magazine holder from Wisteria brings the stash to a dressed up level. Or if you’re like me and have WAY too many glossies to keep count, drop some white birch in here or kindling for your next fire. And remember that silver polishing cloth.

Tabled Hints of French and Asian Flair.

I forgot all about Bunny Williams line of home goods and remembered her jewel piece of a table – the Hourglass Table for Beeline Home. It ranks in one of my top ten everyday and everything tables. It’s perfect as a hall table, small dining table for two, or an end table near that deep charcoal velvet sofa. The octagonal pedestal base is made of hand applied reeded wood and can be finished in either an old gold or silver leaf patina. I’ll take either. The top is a honed fossil stone cut to mimc the shape of the base. Perfect proportions. Off to France and the Far East…

Silver and Gold… Table Behold.

It must be true that planning is underway in many many super organized households for Thanksgiving and Holiday dinner parties. It’s also high wedding season and surely those registries are busting with lists of gilded fine china. I’ve always been a believer in mixing metals, and while looking into accent plates to grace the table at my next dinner party (tbd), I collected a long list of modern, uptempo, and sophisticated finalists. As good as gold and as smashing as silver, these dinnerware beauties are a perfect companion year after year for a seasonal afternoon feast or a star-lit dinner for eight.

Mad for Malachite.

IfWith St. Patrick’s Day behind us and a green green spring (and environmental attitude) ahead, I’m mad for all things green. Especially the earthy but glamourous look of the mineral stone malachite. There is a great history behind this unique mineral. In Greek mythology, the throne of Demeter, goddess of grain and harvest, was fashioned from malachite and adorned with golden pigs and ears of barley (maybe she liked pork chops and beer for dinner?). Up until about 1800, Malachite was used as a mineral pigment in green paints.

And today, the rock band Green Day used malachite in the lyrics of their song 2000 Light Years Away, as a metaphor to lead singer and songwriter Billie Joe Armstrong’s green eyes. My interest however lies mostly in it’s as a lifestyle accent in jewelry and home decor pieces.

Scored Some Silver.

I attended the Dog Days of Summer in Mid-City Washington DC last weekend. It was hot and steamy but the urban streets were bustling. Although I came across so many cool things, I happened to score only one bargain find – $6 for these three nesting silver plated Paul Revere bowls. I love them!
