On many occasions, I stumble upon websites of various designers that I immediately bookmark for later investigation (my so-called BFLI). This morning, I was sucking on my last drop of a ritualistic Vanilla Soy Coffee, and I found out about the young Swedish architecture firm Arkitekstudio Widjedal Racki Bergerhoff (say that ten times fast!). And also known as WRB. Founded by Natascha Racki, this studio in Stockholm focuses on smaller thoroughly designed homes. I love the blend of nature versus nurture… there is a very linear simplistic look and feel within the twelve projects shown in WRB’s portfolio. Enjoy it stateside!
The H-House in Stockholm:
The H-House explores the border inside and outside.
The H-shape creates intimate and protected courtyards.
Completed in '06, materials blended with light gain focus and create atmosphere.
Goldfinger Retreat – sketch for a summerhouse on Island of Storholmen:
Goldfinger Retreat is a summer house made for parties and gatherings.
An elevated sofa wraps a fireplace and offers vistas to ocean and sky.
Island House in Archipelago of Stockholm:
Island House rests between rocks, 500 year old oaks and pines
It sits slightly back and elevated from the water with a freestanding core.
Linear views are amazing and restful.
It has a large outdoor area for gathering and entertaining.
Casa Barone, a private villa east of Stockholm:
Dug into a hill, Casa Barone is an inspiration for a painter and his family.
Lots of views to the outside keep it light and airy.
