Lady-Like Lumination.

The Olympics in jolly ‘ol England will be soon be coming to an end… but the UK has another show to stir up some global excitement – of course it’s in the interior design realm of events. Forget the famous flickering flame and the sophisticated fashion of the Dutchess… we’ve got or eyes on the lady-like light fixtures at Rothschild & Bickers who will be exhibiting at world-known interior design professional trade show Decorex in late September.

Combining traditional techniques with cutting edge design, the talented makers at Rothschild & Bickers use freeform glass to create visual treats at one of the last custom glass shops in England. Paired with the beautiful metal hardware to create stunning silhouettes, these hanging pendants are sure to dress up any bespoke space. Do as the English do. =)

Design is in the Details.

The new Southern Accents showhouse is underway in Riverhills Texas. Although I won’t be able to trek over there from Washington DC anytime soon, thankfully, I can look through the English influenced  rooms of this quintenensential Cotswald-style home. Inspired by the limestone cottages built throughout the Cotswold Hills in England, architect Larry Boerder designed the showhouse to look as though it had been amassed over time.

The original 1.5 story cottage was added on to for this impressive new home.

The Library's craftsmanship details.

The craftsmanship details include leather covered beams and rafia surfaces.

An English mirror above the mantel echoes the round table and candleabra.

Exterior window trim serves a purpose to lead water away from the window.

Two silver Louis Philippe–style mirrors above the French 1930's black lacquer tables look like additional windows.

Soothing colors match each other from the painting, to the rug, and onto the antique Sultanabad bed cover.

A banded diamond pattern adds interest to the marble flooring in the master bath..

Striped fabric on the walls and slanted ceiling creates a tentlike feel in the boy’s room.

The walls are stenciled with animal hide like stripes in a custom mixture of Brilliant White and Loft by Ralph Lauren Paint.
