Book Ends All Lit Up.

Your child might have mandatory summer reading but this Empiric lamp makes me want to go read a book myself. I adore the rectangle Fornasetti Ex Libris paper shades and simple linear leaded crystal base – perfect match. I imagine them flanking a low book shelf or cabinet in a den or even a commercial space… how about a bookshop?

Swarovski Fish.

Whoa. Not sure how I envision these trophies s0-to-speak, but I have to admit… they’re sure different and unique. A simple glamourous concept (sand the Bedazzler) puts these creations by NYC-based artist Kevin McHugh in the internet shopping aisles of Vivre.com. Ranging in price from $830 to $5,400, these fiberglass creations are encrusted with more then 5,000 to 12,000 sparkling Swarovski orange and pink crystals. Each crystal is hand-applied painstakingly and meticulously, and gradate from its dorsal fin to the blue stone eyes. Large is 74″ in legnth!

Fill Up the Crystal Ball.

Real Simple Magazine just showed its’ readers this beautiful and multi-purpose carafe/pitcher/vase. It’s made of mouthblown glass and is accompanied by a colorful crystal ball stopper that seals the top or nests in the bottom of the vase to add a vibrant dash of color.

Doc. I’ve got the Vitra Virus.

A meeting between crystal and furniture can usually be quoted as China cabinet, grandmas house, Hollywood Regency, or broken. Uh oh. What if the two materials could blend like flour and water? In the case of glass designer Pieke Bergman, the piece of furniture has become a pedestal for the crystal object. A Vitra Virus.

Famous pieces by Charles & Ray Eames, Maarten van Severen, Sori Yanagi, Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, Jean Prouva, and Jasper Morrison prove to be most interesting subjects in his work.
