Coming March 2013! Baby Girl!

It’s been little quiet as of lately here at DC Design Coop. We’ve had a beautifully busy year and I have so much to share with you all about some fantastic projects, fun travels and personal accomplishments.

But the biggest most rewarding bit of news is that… a baby girl is on the way!

It is with great excitement that I announce that my husband and I are expecting our first child! We are absolutely over the moon. I’m entering my fifth month and my belly is slowly expanding. We can’t wait to welcome her into the world and give her lots of hugs, smooches and tummy rubs. xoxo

Boy George!

There’s a new kid in town and he’s got the good looks and baby face to prove it. My sister delivered a healthy baby boy last week! Welcome to the world Baby George!

DC Baby oh-boy-tique.

The Washington Post’s popular Express on-the-go free color newspaper featured Nursery Cool in todays Lookout Home section. For you DC urban moms and dads, they gave us a good list of local Washington, DC baby boutiques for those parents seeking modern baby furniture, accessories, and toys. Goodbye Winnie the Poo and Barney, hello mod baby room decor.

Of course, if you outside of the DC area, contact me and I give you some excellent online resources to find cool baby furniture and decor. Happy hunting!

Wall Art for the Little Ones.

Today  I was looking for prints to grace the walls of my clients home and came across a few favorites from my very own Kids Room folder. My preferences tend to lean towards the more graphic, quirky, sweet, and modern aesthetic. The ones I’m feeling this evening are shared below…

I absolutely love pink and yellow for a baby girls room and this Rothko print brightens up and sweetens an intimate space.

This wall print brings in a mix of vibrant color for a boys room. Energizing with an “ageless” quality, it might work well alongside a subtle plaid duvet and that favorite brown teddy bear.

Circles and shapes always take first place in kids rooms. How about this geometric sight for curious eyes from Art.com? The colors are catching and will look right at home in that sleek contemporary nursery space.

This is a great take on the classic sock monkey-meets-photojournalistic art. Black and white can look just as good in the kids room as it does in the entryway gallery.

Don’t stop here. Look what Cookie Magazine put together for Kids room alphabet posters so the little guy or gal can learn from A to Z (I love the last one!).

Happy Birthday Girlfriend!

A shout out to my neice on her first birthday today! It seems so long ago that awesome Washington DC area photographer Brett Cordeau snapped this lovely black and white photo of her at just two weeks old. Precious, sweet, beautiful, adorable, lovely, blessed! Kisses and birthday wishes princess!
