Green with Envy.

I have to say that emerald green gets me every time. It’s not may favorite color – because I truly find it hard to have just one favorite. I like the entire color wheel of colors in various contexts. I like mixing and matching. And sometimes I stick to the tried and true neutrals. But this shade of green takes my breath away every time. It works with all seasons of wardrobes – burgundies and camels in the Fall, grays and blacks in the Winter, pastel yellow in Spring and vibrant oranges and inky blues in Summer. Oh, and it’s a mandatory accessory come March 17th. =) Just yesterday, I was shopping for a client at the Design Center and picked up a sample of a bold green wallpaper. It’s gorgeous. And so is this handbag from Coach.

Recycling the Odds & Ends.

For a while there we were all concerned about recycling the old furniture, the old rubber tires, taking from fast-growing bamboo and melting down metals and glass for new table tops. But what about those things we never imagined we could incorporate into new design? We chuck these odds and ends away, toss them in the trash without second thought. Someone is way ahead the unexpected… Point Click Home shows us that when common objects become an inspiration, there is always the next modern muse.

iPhone. Better Protected and Better Looking.

I have an ugly black case on my iPhone. I spent a year with the white iPhone 3G and no case. It looked clean. It felt good in my hands. It even looked fantastic sitting on a lucite cocktail table. But one brisk walk to the yoga studio and the phone was done. So a cracked phone is now a refurbished phone. With an armor skin. Ifitshipitshere recently posted the the new answer to ugly phone covers on its blog. Ring in the Ultra Case. There are numerous case accessory options for every iPhone junkie. Here are my favorites.

Heavy Mexican Metal.

When I began my tenure at the interior design firm where I am still employed (thank the heavens), my resourceful self came across a line of furniture that was unique in style, very hand-crafted in looks, and simple in form. A specific dining chair caught my attention and because of this perfect find, eight upholstered peices now take residence in the dining room of one of our clients homes. This side chair, called the Opera, is made by artisans at Mexico based Casamidy.

Started in 1998 by two designers, Anne-Marie Midy and Jorge Almada, Casamidy is the result of a need for creative exploration and a joint visit to Hermes. Months after that visit, the two moved to Mexico to become immersed in the use of metals, leathers and fabrics that make up much of the numerous furniture and accessory lines.

Inspired by areas tiles, locations, and vista throughout the world, Anne-Marie and Jorge employ top iron-smiths to fabricate their ideas into long-lasting and one of my favorite furniture lines now favored among top interior designers and home decor magazines across the world.
