I am signing off for the next ten days. I’ve got a lovely vacation planned with my sweetheart for the South of France, the Cote d’Azur to be specific and bits of Southern Provence! It’s a hard decision, but I’m leaving my technology behind to rest up for my return (and the hundreds of photos I’m going to be snapping and sharing with the world!). I am so looking forward to this trip and am in the midst of some last minute packing. So, although DCDesignCoop will fall silent for less then two weeks, keep me in your daily Must Read List because I am going to be back on with LOTS of inspiration! Hugs, Kisses, and bon French Fries!

Something about this California home is so inviting, so no-nonsense, and so timeless. Take away all of the trends, take away all of the glitz, remove abstract art and materials and this is what you have. A laid-back, serene, calm, California charm of a home.
Delft University of Technology fills its buildings and spaces with design examples from great Dutch designers, like this front desk built out of books salvaged from the library after a fire struck two years ago in the school of architecture. I love the inward facing look and the coordinated tiers of graduating colors. spines. Great and recyclable overall idea. Wonder if there in exists all of our tossed out hard cover encyclopedias? Now, where did my signed copy of Mark Twain disappear to? Hmmm.
Check out the Fall Inspection Guide by This Old House for your homeowners good at keeping that checklist checked off!

I’m scavenging the web for the perfect fall/winter accessory – the faux fur jacket. And yes, it’s a total accessory. Sure, it won’t keep me as warm as the natural insulators of a down or wool coat, but for late party nights out on the town and sometimes used as a cover up with a dress (besides the Pashmina when I can run from car to hotel etc), the faux fur jacket is a no-brainer. Leaning toward the Victoria Secret Faux Fur Jacket for practicality reasons… what do you think?

The Plumen is coming to the US hopefully soon! The Plumen bulb is a visually interesting bulb that uses 80% less energy and lasts 8 times longer than incandescent bulbs while providing a decent looking and somewhat sculptural bulb instead of the ugly ones stocked at Home Depot and Lowe’s.
It’s almost hypnotizing and definitely not boring.
The name Plumen comes from ‘plume’ which is the bird’s decorative feather.
This bulb was designed to attract attention, not be hidden under a drum shade or outdoor fixture. If you are in the UK, you can pre-order yours here – they are planned to ship on October 5th!

Here comes Autumn! The temperatures are starting to drop. This is about the time of year when I like to tailgate, head to the hills, take long hikes, visit Virginia wineries, and picnic in park. Years ago, my Aunt Joyce gave me a 4-person picnic backpack filled with the essentials (see first image below) – four wine glasses, a thermal wine caddy, wool blanket, plate settings, salt and pepper shakers, corkscrew, cheese knife, cheese board, and cutlery. It’s awesome. Such a wonderful gift. And I use it as much as possible. Here are some top picks I think would make an outdoor gathering, hike in the woods, or romantic escape for two that much more enjoyable this Fall and for years and years to come!
