This evening I will be sitting in a room of older game loving individuals (visiting good friends at an assisted living center) hoping to be the first to win big with Bingo. It’s a game of chance but I love a good gamble. One person (a.k.a. Caller), armed with a set of numbers, calls out randomly selected numerals until a player shouts out that they have matched their numbers with a pattern on their 5 x 5 grid ticket. Bingo! For those of you at home and without a caller and card, play it online for fee with no jackpot or head to CyberBingo and pay to play with hundreds of other online gamers. See you at the tables!

Did you know?

  • Bingo was invented in 1934, however, the game of bingo can be traced back to a lottery game called “Lo Giuoco del Lotto d’Italia” played in Italy in c.1530.
  • The word bingo (referring to a lotto) has its earliest recording from England in 1776.
  • There are 552,446,474,061,128,648,601,600,000 possible arrangements of the numbers on a bingo card.
  • The most chips one can place on a Bingo board without having a Bingo is 19, not counting the free space.
