Casino Royale.

The marinas in Washington Channel are booming with mega yachts. On our way out of Gangplank Marina, we cruised on our 39′ Rinker past this AMAZING 16o’ Christiansen yacht called Casino Royale.  A collaboration between builder Christensen and owner/aficionado John Staluppi, the Casino Royale is an example of some of the world’s quickest and most impressive yachts afloat. It is the largest and most spacious Millennium Edition yacht to date, as evidenced by her sheer beauty from the water in our “dinghy” below the decks. After reading up on this private vessel, I learned that the interiors were designed by interior design firm Carol Williamson & Associates. In the photo slide show on Casino Royale’s own personal website, it’s evident that he 007 theme is celebrated throughout, from Bond girl silhouettes in etched glass panels that clad the spiral staircase to Vesper Lynd look-alike statues watching over the main saloon and aft entrance. All stone on board (and lots of it!) was precision designed and executed by stone master Jeff Homchick.

And not to forget about The Fighting Irish, a 144′ beauty also tied up against the long docks of the Washington Channel. I had the opportunity to share the restaurant deck with the owner during a late Sunday dinner last month at Cantina Marina (love that place after a long day on the water and they allow dogs!). Amy Halffman designed the interiors (which I have not seen) and it’s also a visual treat for any city dweller eager to get a glimpse of life beyond the Delaware beaches – to a life of luxury on the water, in the world’s most discreet bays and among the rich and famous. Anchor’s away!
