Let the costumes and belly laughs ensue. Happy Halloween from the Nation’s Capitol. These gals were my first glimpse of the characters I’ll see today! Gotta love Dupont Circle!

I love white backgrounds and pops of color. There exists just that with the new exclusive deluxe edition Art, Fashion, and Architecture book by Louis Vuitton. This large format book explores 80 collaborations with the likes of Takashi Murakami and Stephen Sprouse. This collectors piece is designed by Takashi Murakami with a special cover, jacket and plexiglass slipcase silkscreened in the popular LV Damier pattern. Its priced at $130 and is only available online or in Louis Vuitton stores (psst DC… Chevy Chase and Tyson’s Corner). The beautiful package includes 404 pages and 3 special inserts with 400 full color photographs and illustrations. Great accessory for that coffee table or very best and fashionable friend.

Last night I visited the Corcoran Gallery of Art and had the opportunity to listen to interior designer Michael Smith discuss his talents and deep desires to create comfortable and lasting interior spaces for his affluent clientele all over the world (and that includes the who’s who living in the White House).
Local DC blogger Architect Design posted this on his blog about last nights experience and Michael’s comments to the audience about his experiences in the role as interior designer. Here is a glimpse into the beautiful and classic interiors for which he is utterly famous.

Although I am a proponent of hand carving my annual Halloween pumpkin, I have to say that there are a lot of very crafty templates available online for the unartistic, hesitant, or young carvers out there. I just found THE BEST website for creating custom stencils for your Halloween pumpkin(s). Leave it up to BHG to give us a tool so cool. I tried my hand at it – here’s my scary pumpkin. Boo!

Just one hour in the car and you’re there. An afternoon in Virginia’s Hunt Country. Welcome to lovely Middleburg. I spent the last part of Sunday basking in the sun and enjoying the delicious wine of Piedmont Vineyards, just up the road from quaint and adorable downtown Middleburg. I had the chance to share a few bottles of wine with the owners and friends around great table conversation on this gorgeous pre-Revolutionary estate, also known as Waverly. I took to their Chardonnay which is fermented in stainless steel tanks. I love Sauvignons and Pinot Grigio white wines due to the refreshing taste that comes from being fermented in metal tanks – not wooden barrels. Thanks for the fun Peidmont! Oh, I brought my camera of course. Enjoy some of my shots!

I had the chance to attend the awesome grand opening party at Long View Gallery on 9th Street in Washington DC. The new space is incredible with white-washed brick walls covered in floating drywall slabs and backlit with white tube lights. The art installations being shown that night included large significant and very creative pieces that were priced from four and five figures (not in my budget). It was a well executed event with delicious food and drink from Occasions Caterers. The event lighting and DJS were amazing and gave each guest a truly memorable evening. Local DC blogger U Street Girl has a few pictures from the night (I took none. Terrible I know).
